With Dr. Gulliver's assistant Crow, and Ted's companions, a talking dog and a toy soldier, they travel the Milky Way to the Planet of Blue Hope, which has been taken over by the Queen of Purple Planet and her evil group of robots. Armed with water-pistols and water balloons, which melt the villains, Ricky and Gulliver restore Blue Hope to its doll-like owners.

This movie is an alternative version of the TV series; it is composed of the two 2007 OVAs, edited to improve the pacing of the plot, and an extra segment akin to a TV episode where the cast are given the task of studying flowers. In the Mushroom Kingdom, Mario and Luigi receive a postcard from Princess Peach, inviting them to join her in Dinosaur Land. The brothers then board an airplane to visit them. While on the plane, Mario tests out the Terebikko phone Luigi brought to call the viewer watching. When the plane lands on Yoshi's Island, however, they find an empty airport and are suddenly interrupted by Bowser appearing through stormy clouds in the sky. He announces he has taken Princess Peach captive and challenges the brothers to go to his castle, before disappearing. Mario and Luigi then set out, determined to rescue her.
It is a time of chaos. Earth is no longer what it used to be. It has been infested with a bug like species called the Blue. Yuji Kaido, who has a mysterious disease, is put into suspended animation until a cure is found. When he wakes up Yuji learns that its been more than 20 years since he was put into suspended animation, and the world is now controled by these creatures. He joins a group of soldiers equipped with powerful mechas to fight against the Blue for hope of a better future.
