A poor family in Florida saves all the money they can in order to plan something special for the soldier they've invited to Sunday dinner. They don't realize that their request to invite the soldier never got mailed. On the day of the scheduled dinner, another soldier is brought to their home and love soon blossoms between him and Tessa, the young woman who runs the home.

The film tells the story of a woman who guides a group of soldiers trying to stop the Greek forces occupying Izmir. Izmir is occupied by Greek forces. Captain Necdet takes a group of soldiers with him and begins to advance toward the enemy. Necdet plans to destroy the bridge used by the enemy to transport ammunition for the attack. However, since the enemy has surrounded them on all sides, he needs someone to guide them along the way. He takes refuge in a nearby village and asks for help. An old man who opens his home to the soldiers entrusts his daughter Fato to Necdet to guide them. Fato will help the soldiers destroy the Iron Bridge.
Diogo is a cartographer and artist who is encharged to set the new frontiers of Portuguese Colonies in South America. When he reaches the center of the continent, finds apparently nothing but wilderness and ‘uncivilized’ natives with strange ways of living. But Captain Pedro, the rude scout who guides him through the jungle, involves Diogo in an involuntary act of violence which will tie him in an unusual way to that far away country. It was the last days of June 1942. The fascist troops were tearing towards Sevastopol, and fighting was already going on in the city itself. Ships of the Black Sea Fleet had already broken through to Sevastopol more than once, delivering replenishment, ammunition and weapons. And now, destroyers "Daring" and "Stremitelny" receive a new order to go to Sevastopol. This way is known to sailors well enough, but the fascists repeatedly mined the only fairway to Sevastopol, and enemy aircraft constantly attacking destroyers. At the cost of losing the "Daring" sailors manage to break through to Sevastopol. But the hardest tests fall to the sailors on the way back, when overloaded with wounded "Stremitelny" returns to his native port.

During the anti-Japanese war, truck driver Lee Sing's secret mission is to transport weapons and supplies for the resistance fighters. Sing has to deliver a signal gun to guerrillas at ten on that night for launching an attack against the Japanese soldiers. He works for the Ko's family and he has to send the gun to the provincial city to prevent it from being bombed. Sing carries on his vehicle a group of passengers including a Chinese traitor, a guerilla, a compassionate nurse, a comfort woman on the run, a teacher and his pregnant wife. Sing is given a hard time by the Japanese troops on the road. The Japanese ransack the vehicle and they find the signal gun. All the males on board are being interrogated with torture, but the passengers pool their efforts to subdue the traitor and accomplish their mission.
A village in Mazowsze, 1943. Two teenage boys, Janek and Staszek, find two young Jews hiding on a farm. They soon realize that the boys, Abram and Chaim, are their age and are the sons of a respected pharmacist who lived in a nearby town before the war. They were the only survivors of the anti-Jewish pogrom led by the Germans in the nearby forest. In spite of the deadly threat, Janek and Staszek decide to hide the boys and keep it a secret.
